Authors' Personal Blogs

Get Noticed

  • American Author: Offers powerful, affordable, and easy to use websites (like this one!), specifically designed for authors.

  • Southern Comfort: Southern author Karin Gillespie blogs about how authors can successfully promote their books.

  • Buzz, Balls & Hype: Author M. J. Rose offers another great blog to teach authors how to market books after they're written and sold.

Agent Blogs

  • Miss Snark: Anonymous New York City literary agent dished up $250-an-hour advice, with a side order of salt and spice. Though Miss Snark is no longer posting, the archives are invaluable.
  • LitSoup: Jenny Rappaport, an agent with Lori Perkins, blogs about the agenting life.
  • Nathan Bransford: A Curtis Brown agent shares his wisdom and a wicked sense of humor.
  • Lyons Literary: Jonathan Lyons offers an education in agenting. Note, particularly, his "Word of the Week," where he defines industry lingo such as "flow-through" and "women's fiction."
  • Agent in the Middle: Lori Perkins shares a very personal take on agenting in NYC.
  • Pub Rants: Kristin Nelson, a "very nice literary agent" in Denver blogs about the business. Nelson is notable for representing fiction exclusively, including category fiction.

Just for Fun

  • Postsecret: A fascinating community art project that allows a peek into a new batch of personal lives every Sunday.
  • Google Sightseeing: Fascinating glimpses of earth from space. My favorite entries are those that result from Google's new Street Level view.
  • Pandora: Create your own internet radio station, based on songs you like.
